Chances are, you or someone you know has said, “Kids just need to know their facts!” While basic math fact knowledge is important, the reason for learning basic facts goes beyond just knowing those facts. Join this session to shift the focus from whether kids “know their facts” to understanding why and how students develop and apply math fact knowledge. We’ll explore the developmental process students work through as they learn basic facts and how the key strategies students use when learning basic facts apply to more complex computation skills.
